Bo Nix might not be able play on the field, but he’s making moves away from the gridiron. The Auburn quarterback announced a new endorsement deal with Subway on Friday.

Nix suffered a broken ankle in last week’s game against Mississippi State and won’t play another game this season. But that didn’t stop him from signing an NIL deal with Subway.

“A broken ankle can’t keep The 334 down,” Nix posted on an Instagram story. “Let’s get it!”

Nix was having a great year before his injury. He’s still fifth in the SEC with 229.4 passing yards per game and threw 11 touchdowns. Last week against Mississippi State, Nix went 27 for 41 for 377 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

He suffered the injury in the third quarter, but kept playing into the fourth quarter. Auburn coach Bryan Harsin talked about the decision to let Nix keep playing before he noticed his limp was getting worse, which is when he pulled his quarterback.

“When your feet are planted in the game, you always try to run your feet or always try to move your feet because guys get wiped out and that helps you and keeps you from hopefully having like a lower leg injury throughout a game and even through practice,” Harsin said earlier this week. “Sometimes when you’re planted, you get hit just right and things happen. I think that’s what happened after watching it at the end.”

TJ Finley will the Tigers’ QB1 going forward, starting with Auburn’s matchup with South Carolina on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Bo Nix tweets message following season-ending injury reveal

Nix sent out a message after the news had gotten out about his injury. He quoted some of his favorite scripture and said he will begin his “road to recovery” on Monday.

“Bones break and things change, but God is always the same,” Nix said in a tweet on Sunday. “One of my favorite verses is John 13:7, “Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I’m doing, but later you will understand”. The Lord’s timing is our schedule. The road to recovery begins tomorrow.”

Nix finished the second half against Mississippi State, despite the injury. He finished 27 of 41 with 377 yards and two touchdowns in the shocking loss. Throughout the latter stages, you can visibly see the quarterback limping and in clear discomfort.

At one point in the season, Auburn benched Nix for poor performances against Georgia State. TJ Finley was inserted to avoid what could have been an all-time upset. Since then, Nix has performed well against the likes of LSU and Arkansas, finally showing some consistency — something he has struggled with throughout his career.
