Former Akron offensive lineman Ronan Chambers has committed to Auburn, On3 has learned.

After entering the transfer portal this offseason, Chambers originally committed to Tulane. But following a visit to The Plains over the weekend, Chambers has flipped his commitment and will now join the Auburn Tigers for the final season of his college career. As head coach Hugh Freeze looks to continue bolstering up the offensive line ahead of his second season at the helm for the Tigers.

Chambers played high school football at St. Edward in Lakewood (OH) where he was a three-star prospect. Ranked the No. 2,354 overall recruit and the No. 235 offensive tackle in the 2020 cycle, according to On3’s Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

In his four seasons with the Zips Chambers appeared in 37 total games and made 18 starts, providing experience and versatility to Auburn’s offensive front after making nine starts at right tackle and three starts at left tackle last season. With the 6-foot-6, 290-pounder showcasing his ability to protect the strong side and the blind side last season in the MAC.

Chambers is just the second offensive lineman to join the Tigers this offseason through the transfer portal alongside former Mississippi State o-lineman Percy Lewis. Who like Chambers also brings plenty of experience to the table with him to Auburn as a member of the 2020 high school recruiting cycle.

But unlike Chambers Lewis committed with the Tigers in January, taking part in Auburn’s spring practices and being with the team for the majority of the year.

“(Auburn) has Dom (Dominic Studzinski, Auburn strength coach) here and that’l help me getting better in my strengths and weaknesses, and he’s been helping me,” Lewis told Auburn Live. “He’s been helping me the last three months I’ve been here. I left State, so I wouldn’t say this was the next place closest to home, but Dom, they were telling me all the people he was training and that caught my eye. I get to train with those guys and it would help me out in the long run.”

“I’m comfortable now. I feel like we’re going to be real good. We’re coming together, bond, and that won’t be no problem. We’re going to be good. We’re good. You’re going to see when that camera comes in that first game,” Lewis added.
