Former Memphis defensive lineman Morris Joseph Jr commits to Auburn

The Auburn Tigers are adding another piece to their defensive line with former Memphis defensive lineman Morris Joseph Jr. Joseph recently made official visits to Georgia Tech and Arkansas before visiting Auburn, and it appears that the Tigers were able to win him over. Joseph shared the news himself via his Twitter on Wednesday.
Morris Joseph Jr. signs with Auburn
Joseph joins Auburn with one year remaining of college eligibility, and is coming off a season where he had 38 tackles and 1.5 sacks for Memphis. In 2020, Joseph recorded 52 tackles and led Memphis with eight sacks and added 11.5 tackles for a loss — earning All-AAC honorable mention.
After beginning his college career with UTSA, Joseph transferred to Memphis where he played three years on their defensive line. Auburn is gaining a fifth-year player with 12.0 career sacks and 19.5 tackles for a loss.
Joseph recently spoke about his visit to the Auburn campus and praised the coaching staff — specifically defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh and head coach Bryan Harsin — as well as the great food around the area.

“I had a great time,” Joseph said of his visit. “We hung out with the coaches and the staff, did a little axe throwing, went around the town so I got to see Auburn a little bit. There are a lot of great food spots.
“Coach Brumbaugh is very knowledgeable when it comes to the d-line position. He showed me a lot of ways that could help improve my game. That is a big plus to me. It was great just getting to talk ball with him.
“Coach Harsin, just talking to him, we got to really connect about our passion for the game. It was a great experience overall. All the coaches had a great vibe to them. Everything was authentic. It’s unlike any place I’ve ever visited before.”
