Penn State transfer wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith commits to Auburn
After entering the NCAA transfer portal, former Penn State wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith has finally made his decision, committing to the Auburn Tigers. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported the news.
Lambert-Smith’s plans to enter the transfer portal were reported on April 12 by On3’s Pete Nakos, officially entering the transfer portal on April 15. And after a positive visit on The Plains, the fifth-year wideout is now an Auburn Tiger following four seasons with the Nittany Lions.
“It was great,” Labert-Smith said following his visit with Auburn. “I told them that I’m definitely high on them. They are in the mix, for sure.”
Lambert-Smith played high school football at Maury High School in Norfolk (VA) where he was a four-star recruit. Ranked the No. 192 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 35 wide receiver from the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
And according to On3’s 2024 College Football Transfer Portal Top Player Rankings, he was the No. 55 overall player and the No. 8 wide receiver available in the portal this offseason.
He had a breakout season for the Nittany Lions last year, posting a career-high 53 receptions for 673 yards (both led the team) and four touchdowns. Earning All-Big Ten honorable mention honors from the coaches and media, also named to the Reese’s Senior Bowl watch list.

Lambert-Smith ranked fifth in the Big Ten in catches and sixth in receiving yards in 2023, and in his 48 career game appearances (38 starts) he caught 126 passes for 1,721 yards and 11 touchdowns. Ranking 19th in program history for career receiving yards, 14th for career receptions, and is the only Nittany Lion ever to record multiple 80-yard receptions.
The rookie and the vet will now highlight Auburn’s wide receiving corps with Lambert-Smith joining forces with former five-star recruit Cam Coleman. Who has been receiving glowing reviews from the Tigers following his performance at spring practice as a true freshman. And according to his Lamber-Smith’s former head coach, he too was impressing during spring practice in Happy Valley.
“I think (Lambert-Smith) had a good spring, he’s shown some real flashes this spring and I’m seeing them on a more consistent basis,” Penn State head coach James Franklin said. “We need him to have a big year and expect him to have a big year, and I’m seeing more consistency in the special plays and production.”
It will surely be fascinating to see if Franklin’s forecasted big year translates to the SEC this upcoming season for Lambert-Smith, who now headlines Hugh Freeze‘s impressive offseason in the transfer portal.
