Gunner Britton lists SEC environments he is excited to play in
After transferring into Auburn from Western Kentucky this offseason, offensive tackle Gunner Britton is counting down the days until he can visit some of the most exciting SEC venues out there.
Only 67 more days until his most anticipated road visit.
“Oh it’s unreal. I can’t wait,” Gunner Britton said. “I mean everybody, the LSU game is the one that kind of pops in everybody’s mind because everyone thinks about playing at Death Valley, especially if it’s a night game. That’s a game that you look at the top college atmospheres it’s always up there. But there’s a lot of them.”
Indeed there are a lot of anticipated road trips for the new Auburn lineman.
He’s had the luxury of playing in a few SEC venues before, but that won’t stop this year’s road slate from being thoroughly enjoyable. Auburn will travel to California, Texas A&M, LSU, Vanderbilt and Arkansas.
“Playing in College Station’s going to be really special,” Gunner Britton said. “Even playing at Arkansas, even though I’ve played at Arkansas before. But like even playing here. The way I’ve described to guys is I’ve played in big stadiums where I’ve had 90,000 cheer against me, so it’s going to be kind of nice having 90,000 people cheer for me. And that’s a big difference.”
Britton is excited to get into the Southeastern Conference.
He spent five seasons at Western Kentucky, where he logged 18 starts and appeared in 51 games. And not only has he been around SEC territory for a while, he also grew up in the SEC.

“It’s special. I grew up as a South Carolina fan, I’m from South Carolina, so I knew all about the SEC,” Gunner Britton said. “Even today we had Tim Tebow speak to them and some of my teammates were like, ‘Yeah, I was 3 when he was playing.’ I remember I was 8 years old, like I remember watching Tim Tebow do all this stuff live and thinking this is crazy.
“Like seeing guys like that or even Cam Newton, and I’m now on that stage of like, that’s where I play. It’s special. It’s cool. My brothers liked to say when I came on my visit here and they saw the SEC patch, like it just means more. It really does. I know we have shirts that say the SEC means more, but it just does. That’s the best college football in the country, and I think everybody would agree with that.”
Now Gunner Britton will get a chance to experience the best college football in the country from on the inside.
