Auburn football social media sends message following Bryan Harsin dismissal
While it may have been overdue, Auburn finally ripped off the band-aid by firing head coach Bryan Harsin. It’s been a long time coming on the Plains dating back to the offseason and possibly when the hire was originally made. With a new athletic director stepping on campus as well, the Tigers will be getting a fresh start.
The official Auburn Football Twitter account broke its silence since firing Harsin on Monday afternoon, doing so the only way they knew how. It was a message sent out to the Auburn Family, saying they will always be together through the tough times happening in the program.
Justin Hokanson of On3’s AuburnLive gave some more context to the tweet, saying there was a players-only meeting occurring in the football facility.

“This tweet goes out at the exact moment a players-only meeting is beginning inside the football facility,” Hokanson said.
Nonetheless, it’s a short but sweet message from the social media admin, hoping to get through some tough times in the program. Since the released tweet, former Auburn running back Cadaliac Williams was announced as the interim head coach.

Back on the field, Mississippi State is next up as the Tigers will want to get back on the right track there. Williams will be the one leading them out onto Wade-Davis Stadium.
Bryan Harsin owed more than $15 million by Auburn
Auburn announced that it would be firing Bryan Harsin on Halloween–a day before his 46th birthday. Spooky season indeed for the head coach. However, that is going to be made less spooky by the buyout that Auburn owes Harsin.
According to Pete Thamel, Auburn owes Bryan Harsin more than $15 million. Half of that money is due within 30 days of his firing.
There are times when buyout numbers can be negotiated down. This happened with Paul Chryst at Wisconsin this season. He agreed to a reduced buyout of $11 million when he was owed $19.5 million. There are a lot of reasons a coach might choose to do this. However, given Bryan Harsin’s situation at Auburn, it’s doubtful he wants anything less than he is owed.
The timing of Bryan Harsin’s firing comes almost immediately after Auburn hired a new athletic director. John Cohen, who had previously been Mississippi State’s AD, made it his first order of business to move on from Harsin. Now, he can begin the coaching search for a new head football coach.
