The Auburn Tigers were back in action for spring practices after a week off for the players, and coach Hugh Freeze was exceptionally pleased with what he saw off the rip.
Everyone was punctual and seemed to have pretty good recall on all the things Auburn installed in the first three days.
“Loved our attitude, effort, approach,” Freeze said. “Thought that the return meeting last night was as good as I’ve seen. Typically you worry about people being tardy or flat tire or whatever, and we had zero of that. Everybody was back on time, early.”
Freeze, of course, will be tasked with turning around an Auburn program that has gone just 11-14 the past two seasons. The Tigers have been substandard for a good few years now, the exact reason Freeze was brought in to fix things.
He’s encouraged by the start he’s seen, with players who seem hungry to learn.
Freeze has also had a nice response in recruiting, with him trying to shore up the roster by adding some more talented pieces in the 2024 recruiting class.

“Team meeting today was really, really good,” Freeze said. “Had a great day of recruiting. It’s been a good day, so hopefully practice will finish off the day really well.”
Auburn’s spring practices about learning, assessing
Auburn’s spring practices won’t add new things to the installation on Tuesday, with Freeze looking to take a little break to assess how much his players retained from the first few days of practice.
There’s been a whole lot to take in.
“Obviously to the extent that we need to, the execution of the installs and everything that’s a little new, we’ve got a long way to go,” Freeze said. “We’re not going to add anything new today, so hopefully we’ll see how they retain from a week off from the first three practices to today.”
If retention is good, Auburn will be in good shape to continue moving forward with more install work in spring practice.
