Auburn head coach Carnell 'Cadillac' Williams challenges his team at halftime vs Mississippi State
Heading into the half, the Auburn Tigers trail the Mississippi State Bulldogs 24-6. The Tigers have been able to limit the Bulldogs’ offense on defense. But unfortunately, their offensive woes have reared their ugly heads repeatedly, which is reflected by the score. Heading into the half, interim head coach Cadillac Williams stopped and spoke with the crew covering the game and gave his thoughts on his team performance so far.
“We gonna fight,” said Williams. “We’re gonna keep fighting. Somebody’s gonna quit; I know it ain’t gonna be us. We’re gonna stay aggressive. Offensively, man, we gotta freaking help our defense. So we’re gonna get in here and get our offensive plan together and keep fighting. Fight or quit, and we ain’t quitting.”

Quitting does not appear to be a part of Williams’s DNA. And while he is the head coach at Auburn, he will expect his team to follow suit. The Tigers head into the half down by 18 in just a three-score game. If Williams can find the right words to galvanize his offense, Auburn could mount an impressive comeback in the second half giving their head coach his first victory in his first-ever game at the helm.
Cadillac Williams delivers passionate speech to Auburn players ahead of first game as interim head coach
Saturday will be a big day for Auburn and Carnell “Cadillac” Williams. It’ll mark Williams’ first game as the Tigers’ interim head coach after the firing of Bryan Harsin. This marks a new chapter of his journey from Auburn star to NFL running back to, eventually, a member of the Tigers’ coaching staff.
He’s not taking the opportunity lightly, and that’s evident by the speech he gave to his team ahead of his debut.
“It’s truly, truly, all about the ball, man,” Williams started.
