Johni Broome injury update: Auburn star gives status for Final Four during postgame interview

Auburn star Johni Broome suffered a scary-looking injury in the second half of an Elite Eight contest against Michigan State. He landed awkwardly after going for a loose ball, bending his elbow in a funny direction.
Broome left the game briefly and underwent X-rays, which came back negative. Then he did the improbable, returning to the contest.
Auburn would go on to win the game 70-64, advancing to a Final Four matchup against conference foe Florida. After the game, CBS sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson asked Broome directly whether he would be able to play in the Final Four.
“I will be, but all glory to God,” Johni Broome said simply.
The Tigers could certainly use him. The big man and first-team All-American has been dominant throughout the season. That was evident again in the win against Michigan State.
Shortly after checking back in following the injury, Johni Broome pulled down a one-handed rebound. Then he launched and drained a 3-pointer, to which the crowd went absolutely nuts. It sparked Auburn at a time when Michigan State appeared intent on rallying.
Broome finished the game with 25 points and 14 rebounds, despite missing 11 minutes worth of game action. Auburn subbed him in and out a bit in the second half following the injury, but Broome appeared to be OK.

Wolfson shared the latest she had on Johni Broome from the sidelines in Atlanta after Broome returned to action. She reported:
“Obviously, there was a lot of fear as he walked into that locker room but I was told he went in for X-rays, those X-rays were negative and, as you see, he’s giving it a go,” said Wolfson.
Broome came down on a play where it looked like several things happened to him. He twisted his left ankle while also appearing to hyper-extend his right elbow. He remained on the court for a minute or two holding that elbow before walking off, speaking momentarily with his team and family, and heading into the locker room.
Still, as the Tigers maintained their same lead, Broome returned and immediately impacted the game. Auburn will be hoping he can continue to have that kind of impact in the Final Four.
