Lane Kiffin did not shoot down the rumors that he is considering leaving Ole Miss for Auburn during his Monday afternoon press conference.

“I don’t know what else to say. I’m extremely happy here,” Kiffin said.

Hours later, reports have surfaced saying that Kiffin is leaning toward leaving the Rebels in favor of Auburn. This doesn’t come as a surprise, as many believed him to be the No. 1 target for the Tigers head coaching vacancy since Bryan Harsin’s firing in late October.

It should be noted that the report said Auburn has not formally offered to job to anyone as of Monday night, but Kiffin could be announced as the Tigers’ new headman as soon as Friday, one day following the 2022 Egg Bowl between Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Regardless if the rumors are true, Kiffin never said he wasn’t considering the position. Only that he was extremely happy in Oxford. For now, however, it seems the final outcome will be up for personal interpretations for the time being.
