Report: Auburn pitching coach Daron Schoenrock leaves program

Auburn will reportedly be looking for a new assistant coach this offseason. According to Kendall Rogers of D1 Baseball, Tigers pitching coach Daron Schoenrock has stepped down from his position. He had just wrapped up his first season on the Plains.
“SCOOP: @AuburnBaseball pitching coach Daron Schoenrock has stepped down after one season with the program, @d1baseball has learned,” Rogers said. “The Tigers steadily improved on the mound as the season progressed, but Rock wants to be closer to family.”
Head coach Butch Thompson made a splash hire by bringing Schoenrock onto staff. He had previously been the head coach of Memphis over the past 18 seasons. As Rogers mentioned, Auburn saw their pitching numbers improve under the assistant but ultimately, family was always going to win out for Schoenrock.
No word has been set on whether or not Schoenrock will be returning to coaching anytime soon. For now, he just wants to be closer to his family. If it is the end of a career, Schoenrock has plenty to celebrate, spending nearly four decades in college baseball.
According to Schoenrock’s official bio, he is married to Carol Cawood Schoenrock and has two sons, Erik and Bret. Best wishes to the Schoenrock family as they look to spend more time together in the near future.

Auburn looking for third pitching coach in as many seasons
This is not the first rodeo for Thompson when it comes to finding a pitching coach. He went through the process last season and eventually landed on Schoenrock. While the move worked, Thompson knew there would be a chance he would be in a similar situation a year later.
Schoenrock replaced Tim Hudson, who enjoyed an incredible baseball career. Both at Auburn and in Major League Baseball. Hudson was there to finish out his college degree and at the time, was a volunteer assistant for the program. Once he wrapped things up educationally, he decided to leave the baseball diamond too.
Auburn will be an attractive destination, having a ton of recent success. After making the College World Series in 2022, the Tigers were once again in the hunt heading into the NCAA Tournament. Although they were a regional host, two games were all they lasted and crashed out.
Even so, a great regular season is something they can build on before going again next season. Hopefully a new pitching coach can help be the difference.
