Although the decision wasn’t as shocking, it still took some time for people to believe that Bo Nix was really leaving Auburn. A Pinson, Alabama native who grew up admiring Auburn and ended up living out his dream by playing quarterback for the Tigers, Nix entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Sunday and is now searching for a new home to finish out his collegiate career.

After throwing for 7,251 yards and 39 touchdowns and rushing for 869 yards and 18 more scores over his three seasons at Auburn, Nix is certainly a big name in the portal and should have plenty of schools wanting him to come play quarterback for them next season.

During an interview on The Jboy Show, Nix discussed what went into his decision to transfer from Auburn – a place he’s known and loved all throughout his life.

“It was one of the toughest things I’ve had to do, simply because of my love for Auburn and how badly I wanted to be at Auburn,” Nix said. “That’s why I came to Auburn in the first place my freshman year, and I knew growing up I couldn’t pass up on the dream of playing at the school I always wanted to play at. So, once I played there and graduated, I’ve really fulfilled my dreams and all I wanted to do. Unfortunately, if we have it our way, we’d say we wanted to win a championship and get all of these awards, but that very rarely happens. But I did what I wanted to do, I accomplished my goal, I got my diploma from Auburn, so I can say I’ve graduated from essentially the best university ever – and that’s essentially where I wanted to go and do that.

“So, now I’m just kind of in that situation to where I can pick and decide what I want to do next, and that’s kind of valuable in the day and age that we’re in. Obviously, my goals and dreams are to be an NFL player and so in order to do that, I feel like I can go and do that at another place.”

Nix: It’s time to ‘go start over somewhere new’

During his interview on The Jboy Show, Nix was asked why now was the right time to leave Auburn for a new school.

“I think there’s been a lot of transitions at Auburn,” Nix said. “I really do think they’re going to have great success under coach Harsin. It had nothing to do with Bo and coach or Bo with the team or anything like that. … Our team at Auburn is going to be set up to do some really good things, I just feel like it’s best if I kind of move on and go start over somewhere new because three years in the same place … it is a long time. It can kind of get tedious and stuff like that, and I think everyone was just ready for a new start.”

Nix is a former four-star recruit in the On3 Consensus.
