Three quarterbacks have taken snaps for Auburn this season despite TJ Finley being announced the starter before the opener. He has been dealing with an injury and did not play against Missouri at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday. Now, another tough SEC game is on the docket, with LSU coming to the Plains.

Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin gave the latest update on Finely, saying the quarterback was practicing on Monday. As for his status, day-to-day was how Harsin described it but that’s not any different than other players returning from a missed game.

“He was out there yesterday,” Harsin said. “Day-to-day with him and all those guys. It’s going to be that way when guys come back from missing a game but we’ll see how he goes today, we’ll see what it looks like.”

Finley played in the first two games with no issues but had to be removed during the loss against Penn State. One of his shoulders seems to be affecting the quarterback and even with the information that he’s back in practice, Finley’s status for the LSU game is unknown.

“Good energy” in the QB room despite TJ Finley energy

Harsin expanded on the other two signal callers as well, complimenting both Robby Ashford and Holden Grenier. There is a “good energy” and “good vibe” in the quarterback room, even with Finley coming back from an injury.

“I still think Robby continues to practice well,” Harsin said. “Like where Holden is at and the things he is doing. Feel good about our practice and some of the things we’re doing with that position. Thought yesterday was a really good day, thought the quarterbacks had a good day. Those guys, there’s a good energy, good vibe.”

At one point against Missouri, Ashford himself got hurt, forcing Grenier into action. The true freshman completed two of his three passes but they went for a combined eight yards. Both he and Ashford will have to be ready to play against LSU and the Auburn quarterback room remains short-staffed.
