WATCH: Robby Ashford, Tank Bigsby get into argument on Auburn sideline after touchdown
Auburn is trying to halt a two-game losing skid with an upset on the road at No. 9 Ole Miss and despite some early adversity the Tigers are hanging in there and making it a game after falling behind 21-0 early in the second quarter.
The Tigers even briefly changed quarterbacks before Robby Ashford, the guy who has been leading the team the last few weeks, eventually settled in.
But not before a curious interaction on the sideline, where he and running back Tank Bigsby reportedly had to be separated, according to ESPN sideline reporter Kris Budden.
“Yeah, there was a strange argument between Ashford and Tank Bigsby,” Budden said. “They came over, they had to be separated. Ashford kept saying to Bigsby, ‘Don’t give up on me, we just put seven points on the board.’
“They continued to jar back and forth and at some point one of the other players goes, ‘Why does it matter who scored the touchdown?'”
Ashford had run in a 2-yard touchdown score for the Tigers’ first score just prior to the interaction.
Robby Ashford, Tank Bigsby seemed to patch things up
If there was any lingering beef between the two players, it certainly didn’t seem to last very long. Multiple Auburn staffers were involved in patching things up, including head coach Bryan Harsin.

“Harsin eventually came over, had a long conversation with Ashford,” Budden relayed on the sideline. “They tried to make it better before going back out there.”
After Auburn’s first touchdown of the day, which cut Ole Miss’ lead to 21-7 early in the second quarter, the Tigers defense came up with a three-and-out.
Ashford and Bigsby quickly trotted back out to the field.
Just moments later, Bigsby was into the end zone with his own 2-yard touchdown run, capping an eight-play, 76-yard drive to cut the Ole Miss lead to 21-14 with 5:24 to play in the half.
Fellow ESPN commentator Dan Orlovsky concluded the exchange with Budden about the previous sideline scuffle with some additional context.
“That’s what the argument looked like, was, ‘Hey, we just scored,'” Orlovsky said. “We asked Tank Bigsby about what has been your impact on Robbie Ashford. He said, ‘I’m just trying to keep him calm, tell him he’s doing well. Adversity comes to all of us, but so do good plays.’ So I’m interested to hear him say that but then watch that interaction between the two after that much-needed touchdown.”
