Auburn hasn’t looked like the same team in the last three weeks or so as the one it was nearly four months prior. That has caused concern about the Tigers for Seth Greenberg as they head to Atlanta for the Sweet 16.

Greenberg shared that trouble with the Tigers on ‘Get Up’ on Thursday. They have not played as well in their last six, which makes it all the more concerning now that it’s win or go home in the NCAA Tournament.

“I’m a little worried about Auburn,” Greenberg said. “Auburn didn’t play well at the end of the season, losing three of the last four. In the NCAA Tournament, they haven’t been dominant.”

After clinching the regular-season title in the SEC at 27-2 (15-1), Auburn is 3-3 since it lost each of its last two in the regular season, lost in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament, and didn’t look as impressive even in the two wins so far in March Madness. The Tigers, at times, have shown that the team from before is still there but it’s just been much less consistent than it had been.

That’s before getting to the status of Chad Baker-Mazara. He exited for an extent in the second half of their win over Creighton in the Round of 32 with a hip injury. That’s something that Greenberg will be taking note of considering his overall role on the team both on the court and with his energy.

“Chad Baker-Mazara? We know he’s the lightning rod. He can impact the game in so many different ways, positively and negatively,” Greenberg said. “He has the little hip pointer and he did not look good at the end of that game. They need him 100% healthy.”

Greenberg also knows this will be a difficult matchup for Auburn against No. 5 Michigan in the Sweet 16. The Wolverines have now won five straight in the postseason and have tools, specifically down low, to give the Tigers some trouble tomorrow night – to the point that Greenberg is going with the maize & blue over the top overall seed in the tournament.

“They’re playing against a Michigan team? Those two bigs, those big-to-big screens they play with,” Greenberg said. “The two seven-footers – really skilled. As long as (Vladislav) Goldin stays out of foul trouble and as long as Michigan takes care of the ball against a tough Auburn defense? I think Michigan wins this game.”
