Hugh Freeze and Auburn currently own the No. 14 recruiting class in the 2024 cycle, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking. As good as the pledge list may be, it currently features just one offensive lineman.

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star IOL DeAndre Carter is an elite prospect that checks in as Auburn’s fifth highest-ranked commit, however there’s always room for depth in the trenches. with a majority of the top O-linemen off the board, Freeze and his staff may have to pull off a flip if they wish to bring in another player at the position.

A recruit that fits into the “potential flips” category is Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County three-star IOL Kahlil House. The Stanford commit checks in at 6-foot-4, 300 pounds and clearly has the build of a potential SEC trench monster.

On the latest edition of The Inside Scoop, Auburn Live recruiting insider Jeffrey Lee joined On3’s Josh Newberg to detail the latest on House following a game visit he took to Auburn over the weekend.

House remains a high priority for Auburn

It ultimately came down to Auburn and Stanford for House, the No. 101 IOL in the 2024 cycle — per the On3 Industry Ranking. Each program received an official visit in June, while Auburn was able to get him on campus for multiple unofficials due to his proximity to the Plains. The signs were pointing to the Tigers, but the top-notch education in Palo Alto eventually put Stanford over the top.

“He’s a very high priority for Auburn, he has been and he will be. When he made his commitment, he was choosing between Auburn and Stanford, everybody, including myself, thought it was going to be Auburn and behind the scenes it was Auburn,” Lee said. “I was talking with Kahlil and he was set to go to Auburn, but that Stanford education really played a role in his decision.”

That hasn’t stopped Auburn, however. Since House pledged to the Cardinal on June 30, the Tigers have continued their pursuit and got him back on campus for their close loss to No. 1 Georgia at Jordan-Hare Stadium over the weekend. Offensive line coach Jake Thornton has remained on the case for AU.

“They (Auburn) stayed in my ear throughout the whole process,” House told Auburn Live. “Even when I committed coach hit me up and said he’d still be here if I need anything and so we’ve still just been talking.”

Despite the loss to the Bulldogs, Auburn has continued to show progress under Freeze in his first year as head coach. House told Auburn Live that he expects to be back on campus later in the season, certainly leaving the door open for the Tigers to try and pull off the flip.

“I think if anybody is to keep an eye on, as far as a flip target, I think he is one,” Lee said of House. “Hugh Freeze and those guys have stayed on him, Jake Thornton, getting him back on Saturday was a big deal and I would be keeping a very close eye on Kahlil House. If I were making a mock class, I would have Kahlil House in Auburn’s class.”
