WATCH: Suni Lee throws acrobatic first pitch at Minnesota Twins game
Suni Lee went viral Friday night for throwing one of the more impressive first pitches of the season. The Auburn gymnast showcased her talents in the process, too.
Lee took the mound at Target Field before her hometown Minnesota Twins took on the Toronto Blue Jays and delivered an incredible first pitch.
Lee burst onto the international scene at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, winning a gold medal in the All-Around while also bringing home a silver medal in the team event and a bronze in the uneven bars. She made her Auburn debut in 2021 and won the balance beam national championship in 2022. She also finished second in the all-around behind Florida’s Trinity Thomas and helped the Tigers to their best overall finish in program history.

During her time on The Plains, Lee has made an impact on campus. Auburn athletic director Allen Greene spoke about the interactions he’s had with her on campus during an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show in May.

“So many of us on our campuses interact with what we would call superstar student athletes,” Greene said. “I’ve got the chance to get to know Suni. She’s an 18-year old. When I get a chance to talk to her, I won’t say she’s a kid because she’s had some worldly experiences, quite literally. But she’s a fantastic young person.
“She’s what makes this industry special. People like her are why I like doing what I do.”
Lee also finished as the runner-up in the Alabama Sports Writers Association amateur athlete of the year voting just behind Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who became the first Crimson Tide quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy last season. Both athletes will be competing for their respective schools once again this school year.
