When NIL first emerged across the college landscape in the summer of 2021, many college football fans across the country immediately thought introducing money into the locker rooms was going to create jealousy and divide teams. Recently at SEC Media Days in Atlanta, Georgia, Auburn running back Tank Bigsby said the team talked about NIL a lot last year, but this year the team doesn’t talk about it much at all.

“I got asked that question today, too. It’s no jealousy, and that’s the best thing about it. The guys that are making a lot of money don’t come in the locker room saying, ‘I got this and that.’ When they don’t even talk; we don’t even speak about NIL. NIL is really not like everybody making a big deal, like everybody be like NIL, NIL. It’s not such, it’s not even, we don’t even talk about it a lot,” Bigsby said.

“We talking about, ‘Hey bro, when we play them…’ We talking about that type of stuff now. When NIL first came out last year, that’s all you heard around the locker room. All you heard. ‘NIL, man? We finna get paid!’ But it’s not like that no more, and I respect them guys for doing that. Like everybody else say, if a dude come in and we see that he post a deal. Congratulations. Bruh, I got to work hard to get where you at. I’m not hating on you. Congratulations. You just did something that made me know what I can do now, so I’m finna go out there and compete and do the same thing. I’m not finna sit here and hating on you now, mine ain’t coming,” Bigsby said.
