Transfer OT Xavier Chaplin has signed with Auburn out of the portal per On3’s Pete Nakos.

This news comes after Chaplin had spent the weekend visiting on The Plains. It went well enough that he’s now the fourth addition out of the transfer portal so far this offseason for the Tigers.

Chaplin had spent the past three seasons on the offensive line for Virginia Tech. In total, he appeared in 26 games in Blacksburg, including 25 during the past two seasons as the Hokies’ starter at left tackle.

With that, Chaplin was the No. 1 OT in the portal and the No. 10 transfer overall per On3’s 2025 Top Transfer Portal Players.

Upon his entry towards the end of last week, other teams that were reportedly involved with him were others in the SEC like Oklahoma and South Carolina.

However, Chaplin is the fourth transfer to come to Auburn during this cycle. He joins alongside QB Jackson Arnold (Oklahoma), RB Durell Robinson (UConn), and P Hudson Kaak (Oklahoma State) who all signed or committed on Saturday. That gives them three players in the Top-150 of those current transfer ratings, including two in the Top-50 in Chaplin and Arnold (No. 6 QB).

That’s following a total of a dozen transfers out of the program for the Tigers. Only one was an offensive tackle with the entry of EJ Harris Jr.. The remaining eleven include a pair of quarterbacks, tight ends, wide receivers, defensive linemen, and safeties apiece along with one linebacker. Others are then planning to follow them as well.
