3-star CB Tyler Scott commits to Auburn: 'They've been my favorite school since they offered me'
Mableton (Ga.) Pebblebrook three-star cornerback Tyler Scott announced a top seven of Alabama, Auburn, Louisville, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas and USC on Nov. 9. However, the Tigers were already out in front by then.
Scott, who decommitted from Arkansas State on Oct. 2, felt a connection with Auburn’s staff and visited the program multiple times this fall. That was enough for Scott to know where he would continue his college football career. He made the news official during the All-American Bowl by committing to the Tigers over USC.
“They’ve been my favorite school since they offered me,” Scott told On3. “They’ve stayed in contact with me through the process and I felt like Auburn was the school that showed the most love to me and my family.”
This has been a long time coming for Scott. Two weeks after Auburn offered him in late August, he knew he would be a Tiger.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back chose Auburn more than a month into new head coach Hugh Freeze‘s tenure. He believes Freeze will help the Tigers be successful in the coming seasons.
“Coach Freeze, he’s a great coach,” said Scott, On3’s No. 42 cornerback and No. 40 player in Georgia.

Following his pledge, Auburn’s 2023 recruiting class contains four cornerbacks. They are Scott, Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove four-star Kayin Lee, McDonough (Ga.) Eagles Landing Christian Academy On3 four-star Colton Hood and Auburn (Ala.) Loachapoka School three-star Jacorious Hart.
Scott is excited to play college football at Jordan-Hare Stadium, a key reason being the opportunity to learn under secondary coach Zac Etheridge and defensive backs coach Wesley McGriff.
The Georgia native got to know McGriff when he was coaching at Louisville. According to the three-star, McGriff joining Auburn’s coaching staff made the Tigers an “even better” option.
“It wasn’t tough at all,” Scott said about his decision. “It was easy. I wanted to play with coach (McGriff) and coach Zac.”
