USC Trojans transfer offensive lineman Mason Murphy is taking his talents to Auburn, committing to join Hugh Freeze’s Tigers via the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Murphy played high school football at JSerra Catholic (CA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 507 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Murphy is the second offensive addition in the last 24 hours that can really help Auburn. Stanford transfer quarterback Ashton Daniels chose Auburn as well. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound junior has one year of eligibility remaining.

Over the course of his collegiate career with the Cardinal, Daniels played in 33 career games, throwing for 3,986 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,117 yards and nine touchdowns.

In 2023, he appeared in all 12 games for Stanford, making the first 10 starts of his collegiate career. And this season at Stanford, he started in nine games. Daniels had one of the best games of his career in an upset of Louisville, throwing for 298 yards and three touchdowns while completing 66.7% of his passes.

Ashton Daniels played high school football at Buford (GA), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1060 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Moving forward, Ashton Daniels will hope to be the answer to Auburn’s quarterback woes under Hugh Freeze. The Tigers showed promise and fight in 2024, but 2025 will be an important season, and more consistent play will be required from the position if they’re to have the success they desire.
