Philadelphia (Pa.) Neumann Goretti four-star recruit Robert Wright tells On3 he has committed to Baylor.

Wright, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound point guard, is making the early pledge to the Bears over offers from Miami, Syracuse, Maryland, Seton Hall, Georgetown, Louisville, and others.

The playmaking point guard is Baylor’s second commitment in the class of 2024. He joins Jason Asemota, a 6-foot-8 wing ranked 14th overall in the class.

Wright ranks as the No. 48 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s evaluators are much higher on Wright, ranking him 32nd overall in the class.

Wright on his commitment to Baylor

“I chose Baylor because it’s a family environment,” Wright said to On3. “They have good skill development and my game will fit in the system they run.”

What type of player is Baylor getting in Robert Wright?

“Baylor is getting a point guard that can run the show and make plays at a high level but also create for himself when the offense breaks down and a good on-ball defender,” he says.

Wright has a message for Baylor fans.

“I want the Baylor fans to know that the goal is to bring that chip back home to the new arena when I get there.”

Scouting Summary

Robert Wright, III is a compact and confident guard. While not blessed with great length or size, his feel is off the charts. Wright can get to his spots off the bounce and plays with outstanding balance with the ball in his hands. He is a good shooter, with deep range on his shot. He can pull up off the bounce or knock it down off the catch. Wright has good vision and distributes passes on target and on time. During Peach Jam, Wright averaged 4.8 assists. His size will be a question mark for some coaches. He also just has average burst. The lead guard is also tough, rebounding the ball well for his position. He has quick hands and great anticipation on defense. Wright averaged 5.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals during Peach Jam. He is a shot maker and a shot creator, and there is a lot of value in that. – On3’s Jamie Shaw, National Recruiting Analyst
