After beginning the season with 15 consecutive wins, the Baylor Bears find themselves with a two-game losing streak. Scott Drew’s team was not able to take advantage of home games against Texas Tech and Oklahoma State, being on the wrong side of the upset wins.

Now, a difficult road matchup against West Virginia is on the cards for Tuesday night. However, Baylor will be without two key players against the Mountaineers.

According to Jeff Goodman of Stadium, James Akinjo and Jeremy Sochan are both out for Tuesday’s game against West Virginia. He reported earlier that Sochan went through pregame warmups, while Akinjo is not at the moment.

Akinjo is currently Baylor’s leading scorer, averaging 13.9 points per game. The Arizona transfer also leads the team in assists with 5.7.

Baylor Bears feature in coaches poll

Tt was a wild turn of events for No. 1 Baylor this week. Throughout the early part of the season, the defending champions of the sport have been the singular constant. However, Baylor suffered back-to-back losses during the week.

First, Texas Tech shocked Baylor to deliver the Bears their first loss on Tuesday. Behind a great performance in the second half, the Red Raiders were able to upset the No. 1 team in the poll at home. Then, Oklahoma State kept the pain coming — dropping the Bears once again on Saturday.

Now, Baylor is bound to fall from the top spot in the Coaches Poll. The Bears may still be the top team in the country, but a terrible week is going to change things for them.
