DL Brendan Bett could have been a useful piece coming off of injury, which caused him to redshirt, from last season. However, he’ll instead be transferring coming out of this spring at Baylor.

Bett has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. On3 learned of that entry by him on Thursday morning.

Bett appeared in just one game last fall due to injury. In 10 games played, with one start, as a true freshman, though, he posted nine tackles, a sack, and a pair of deflections.

A Killeen, Texas native, Bett played high school football at Ellison. He was the No. 800 overall prospect there as a three-star in the 2023 cycle. He also rated as a Top-100 defensive lineman in the class and a Top-150 recruit in the state of Texas. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

At that time, Bett committed to Baylor over other in-state programs like Houston, SMU, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech as well as Colorado. He would join the Bears as one of 21 signees in their class in ’23 that would rate in the Top-35 nationally.

Bett is now the fifth departure during the spring portal cycle for Baylor. RB Richard Reese has already committed elsewhere to Stephen F. Austin while DB Joshua Lair, WR Cameron Bonner, and LB Jaden Maronen are still available for transfer. Those five make for a total of 17 transfers this offseason from out of Waco.

Baylor then has yet to make any additions this spring in the transfer portal. That’s after bringing in 13 players from December through January, namely a pair in the Top-200 in the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking for 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players with WR Kobe Prentice (Alabama) and QB Walker White (Auburn).
