North Richland Hills (Texas) Richland four-star running back Michael Turner moved closer to his commitment over the weekend, trimming his list of top schools down to six.

BaylorOklahoma StateSMUTCUUtah and Washington all made the cut for the On300 top-100 prospect. Turner isn’t planning on stretching things out for too much longer, either. When speaking with On3’s Chad Simmons earlier this week, Turner said he’s aiming to come off the board “late in July or early in August.”

With perhaps not much time left, Baylor is making a move for the 5-foot-11.5, 190-pounder. SMU has been trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) since May, but Simmons logged a pick in favor of Dave Aranda and the Bears on Tuesday evening.

Turner has taken official visits to four of his finalists, including Baylor. He was in Waco on the weekend of June 14 and has also logged OVs to Oklahoma State, SMU and Utah. Summer visits are now in the rearview and the blue-chipper is locked in on reaching his college decision.

“I am done with the visits for the summer and just trying to let it all play out. It is a hard decision because I am chill with all six schools on my list,” Turner told Simmons. “These next few weeks, I want to think about it, let it play out and see who I feel best about.”

Turner added that all six of his finalists are “bringing the heat” down the stretch, making his decision anything but easy. Multiple picks have now been made in favor of Baylor for Turner across the recruiting industry, however.

The Lone Star State burner is the No. 144 overall prospect and No. 7 RB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 26 player in Texas.

Bears looking to continue big July on the recruiting trail

Aranda and Co. were able to sign just the No. 62 class in the nation last cycle, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Things are already looking up this cycle — thanks in-part to what’s been a busy July on the trail.

A trio of four-star prospects have each joined the fold this month. Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek four-star wide receiver Jacorey Watson kicked things off on July 2 and has since been flanked by Red Oak (Texas) South Oak Cliff four-star EDGE Kamauryn Morgan and Red Oak (Texas) four-star WR Taz Williams Jr.

Morgan is the headlining addition, as he ranks No. 131 overall and is also a top-20 EDGE in the On3 Industry Ranking. The Bears beat out Texas A&M and SMU for the 6-foot-3.5, 230-pounder. Williams spurned the likes of Penn State and Michigan on July 13, joining Baylor’s class as the nation’s No. 49 WR.

The class, which ranks No. 40 in the nation and No. 8 in the Big 12, as of July 17, also includes Wynnewood (Okla.) Pauls Valley four-star RB Caden Knighten, a top-30 player at the position this cycle.
