Baylor freshman Ja'Kobe Walter hits game-tying three to force double OT vs TCU
Fireworks are almost always guaranteed whenever two Big 12 teams clash on the hardwood. And in Saturday afternoon’s match-up between the No. 15 Baylor Bears and the TCU Horned Frogs, Baylor needed a clutch shot late in overtime to avoid being upset on their home floor. And that’s just what they got out of freshman Ja’Kobe Walter.
With Baylor trailing by three in overtime, Walter stepped up and hit this 3-point shot, which ultimately sent the game into double overtime and helped the Bears avoid an upset at the hands of the Horned Frogs. You can check out the star freshman’s ice-cold clutch shot in the video below.
Baylor falls in triple overtime
The battle between TCU and Baylor needed three overtime periods to decide a victory. In the end, the Bears came up short, falling at home 105-102. The final few possessions of the third overtime were the deciding factor, with the Horned Frogs’ senior 6-foot-2 guard, Jameer Nelson Jr., coming up big down the stretch. Nelson would score TCU’s final six points to lead them to victory. Four of his six points came at the free-throw line. However, Nelson’s lone field goal for TCU in the final minute of action came off of his own missed shot attempt in which he got the offensive rebound and quickly put a shot up to give the Horned Frogs a 1-point, 103-102 lead with 10 seconds to go in the game.

Walker did have the opportunity to be the hero one more time in the closing seconds of the game. But unfortunately, committed a costly turnover, which ultimately sealed the victory for TCU.
With that loss, Baylor drops to 14-5 on the season and 3-3 in conference play. The Bears are also riding a three-game losing streak currently, with each loss deciding four points or fewer. Up next for Baylor is a road matchup against UCF on Jan 31. The Bears will likely need to come out of this contest victorious if they want to keep pace in the tightly contested Big 12 conference this season.
