Denton (Texas) Guyer quarterback Jackson Arnold wasn’t the only Lone Star State signal-caller to earn an invite to the Elite 11 Finals this past weekend. Dripping Springs QB Austin Novosad will head to Los Angeles as well this summer as receiving his invite following an impressive performance of his own.

Few invitations mean as much as the Elite 11 Finals do to high school quarterbacks. The event, which will celebrate its 23rd year in 2022, brings together the country’s elite signal-callers for four days of competition and training from former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer and a host of others.

Elite 11 alumni include Carson Palmer, Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford, Tim Tebow, and more recently Trevor Lawrence, C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young and more. Last year’s Elite 11 Finals featured 13 of the top 20 quarterbacks in the final 2022 On3 Consensus Rankings, including each of the top six players at the position.

As invites go out over the next few months after Elite 11 Regionals across the country, we’re tracking the prospects who — barring injury or schedule conflict — will head to Los Angeles in late June and compete for the title of the country’s top quarterback in the 2023 class.

He joins Arnold and four-star Baton Rouge (La.) Woodlawn quarterback Rickie Collins on the invite list thus far. Collins picked up his a week ago at the Elite 11 Regional in Baton Rouge. He is currently committed to Purdue. But he has been hearing from a number of SEC programs, including LSU and Ole Miss.

The 6-foot-3, 179-pound Novosad has been committed to Baylor since December, but that hasn’t stopped other schools from recruiting him. He recently visited Texas A&M, which is in the market for a quarterback after the decommitment of Eli Holstein.

Here is what On3 National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman wrote after this weekend’s Battle Dallas event:

“Baylor quarterback pledge Austin Novosad spent part of the weekend visiting Texas A&M. Novosad, who made an in-state pact to the Bears during the Early Signing Period last December, has seen increased interest from the Aggies since On300 quarterback Eli Holstein reopened his recruitment earlier this month. It remains early in the process for the Aggies, who are all of a sudden back in the quarterback market for the 2023 cycle. Early buzz indicates Novosad might be a flip candidate if Texas A&M elects to offer.”

Novosad is the nation’s No. 436 overall prospect and No. 22 quarterback, according to the On3 Consensus.
