Baylor, Scott Drew land commitment from Jason Asemota
Phoenix (Ariz.) Hillcrest Prep four-star rising junior Jason Asemota has committed to the Baylor Bears, he told On3.
Asemota, a 6-foot-8 small forward in the 2024 Class, wasted no time making a decision. While on an official visit to Waco over the weekend, Asemota decided to make it official. He is one of the first 2024 prospects off the board, and also Baylor’s first commitment to the class.
Kansas, LSU, Arizona State, Memphis, Ohio State, Oregon, Stanford, and others also offered Asemota.
Asemota is the No. 13 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 small forward and the No. 2 player in the state of Arizona.
Asemota on his commitment to Baylor
Asemota says the Baylor coaching staff proved to him that he was a priority from the jump. The program made him feel comfortable enough to make an early pledge.

“Baylor was all in on me from the very beginning and showed me that I’m their number 1 priority rather than just telling me I am,” Asemota said to On3. “I love everything Baylor has to offer and I fit their playing style very well. Everything just feels right with Baylor.”
What type of player is Baylor getting in Jason Asemota?
“A player who works hard and wants to buy into the program and wants to win and be a great teammate,” Asemota says.
Asemota has a message for the Baylor fanbase.
“Let’s win another National Championship.”
Scouting Summary
Jason Asemota is trending as one of the top prospects in the 2024 class. The 6-foot-8 wing has beautiful form on his jump shot with a smooth release and confidence off the catch or the bounce. Asemota has improved putting the ball on the floor, and while he can still get into some off-balanced shots, the confidence is improving. He is a good athlete and can do some things in transition. Asemota has a good wing handle two and three dribbles. We would like to see him get things tighter in the half-court and with his reads. His on-court play suggests his recruitment should reach the highest level. – On3’s Gerry Hamilton
