Baylor wideout Seth Jones announces intention to enter the transfer portal
Redshirt sophomore Baylor receiver Seth Jones announced on Twitter on Tuesday that he would be entering the transfer portal at the earliest possible date, Dec. 5, 2022.
Jones added a message to his tweet announcing the news, along with a photo of himself crouched on the sideline. “All we can do is pray! #notfinished,” Jones wrote.
“It’s been a blessing to be part of something special here at Baylor University. I would like to say thank you to all my coaches and teammates who believed in me. Thank you for the experiences and relationships built that will last a lifetime. Thank you for allowing me to play the game I love at a high level. I will be entering the transfer portal on December 5th, which is the earliest date allowed. Sincerely, Seth Jones,” he wrote in the more extensive message.
Jones will presumably play out the rest of the regular season with the Bears, as he’s already appeared in all six games Baylor has played and has no opportunity to redshirt and preserve this year of eligibility. By announcing his intentions now and playing out the season, Jones can effectively have a quasi-audition for a future team.

But he’s been sparsely featured for the Bears as their passing offense has struggled. In six games, Jones has seven catches for 73 yards and no scores. And with Baylor sitting at 3-3 midway through a season where they’d hoped to contend for a Big 12 title, it’s not difficult to see why Jones might want to ply his trade elsewhere.
A three-star recruit in the class of 2020 out of Shadow Creek High School in Pearland, Texas, Jones has offers from several other in-state FBS schools: Texas A&M, Houston and TCU. Utah and Boston College also extended offers.
