Jeremy Roach injury update; Terrible news emerges on the Baylor guard
Jeremy Roach has been ruled out of Wednesday’s game against UConn due to concussion protocol, a Baylor spokesperson told CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander.
Roach left the game with 15:41 left in the second half and has not returned. The Bears already came into the matchup having been without V.J. Edgecombe, so Baylor was down in numbers all night coming in.
According to head coach Scott Drew, he’s not sure of Roach’s status for the upcoming game, but was aware that the veteran guard could not re-enter the game, according to the Waco Tribune’s Brice Cherry. Meanwhile, Edgecombe will go through an MRI on his hamstring on Thursday.
Roach finished the game with nine points and one rebound before leaving midway through the game. He averages 13.3 points per game and 4.7 assists per game, the latter of which he had none during the contest.
UConn would end up emerging victorious over the Bears 76-72, dropping the Bears to 5-3 on the young season.
Fans can rest assured that their team can bounce back during the rest of December, as the Bears are set to play three consectuive mid-major opponents between now and their Dec. 31 matchup vs. Utah to begin Big 12 Conference play.

That’s good news for Roach, who is now on the road to recovery. It’s unclear how severe his consussion symptoms are, or if putting him in protocol was the medical team playing it safe.
