Top-100 CB Micah Strickland taking official visit to Baylor this weekend
Brownsboro (Texas) four-star cornerback Micah Strickland is one of the top prospects in the Lone Star State. In-state programs are treating him as such.
Baylor is set to host Strickland for his first official visit this weekend in Waco. The Bears have been in the mix for the 6-foot, 175-pounder and will look to make another move in his recruitment in the coming days.
Texas Tech, TCU and Houston are the other major Texas programs making a run at Strickland, and he’s set OVs to each school as well. Vanderbilt and Nebraska are some of the out-of-state schools also making the blue-chipper feel wanted. Strickland is eyeing a summer commitment as he continues to look for his home at the college level.
“Those schools close to home are up there, for sure,” Strickland told On3 last month. “There is a real chance I stay home at Texas Tech, TCU or Houston, but I am still looking at Vanderbilt, Nebraska and maybe a few more schools. What makes the in-state schools stand out is the way they recruit me and the relationships I have at those schools.”
The Red Raiders are currently trending for Strickland’s pledge, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. This weekend is Baylor’s turn to cement itself as a legitimate contender in his recruitment.
“When I commit, I want to go where I see myself getting developed the best,” Strickland said. “I want to play at the next level, so I will look at the coaches, the history and things like that. Who can help me get to the NFL is very important too.”
Strickland is the No. 128 overall prospect and No. 14 CB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 24 player in Texas.

Baylor pushing for improved recruiting class in 2025 cycle
After barely checking in inside the top 60 of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings last cycle, Dave Aranda and the Bears are already faring better with the 2025 class.
Baylor currently possesses seven commitments and a top-40 class. Headlining the pledge list is Wynnewood (Okla.) four-star running back Caden Knighten, the No. 23 RB in the cycle. The former Vandy commit joined the fold in Waco back in February.
Tyler (Texas) Chapel Hill three-star safety Demetrius Brisbon Jr. is a former SMU commit who flipped to the Bears at the end of January. Other recruits that have committed to Aranda and Co. in 2024 include Fresno (Texas) Iowa Colony three-star EDGE Christopher Johnson, Gunter (Texas) three-star safety Colin Peacock and Monroe (La.) Neville EDGE Brody Whatley.
