Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty has been in the thick of the Heisman race for much of the 2024 campaign. And his team is in a heated battle with the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday night. Jeanty made a critical 41-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter to put the Broncos up 28-21. And he hit the Heisman pose a few seconds after he scored.

Boise State ended up pulling away from San Jose State, 42-21. Jeanty once again ensured that he’ll be in the thick of the Heisman conversation, finishing with 159 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

He also set the school record for rushing yards in a single season. Jeanty now has 1,893 rushing yards in the 2024 season. He broke the previous mark set by former Boise State great Jay Ajayi (1,823 rushing yards in 2014).

Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter took the driver seat of the Heisman race on Saturday night. But Jeanty will have two more games to impress voters, Wyoming and Oregon State. The Broncos currently sit at 9-1 overall on the 2024 campaign and they’ve got a great shot at a potential College Football Playoff berth.

Ashton Jeanty has been prolific in college

Last season, Jeanty became the Mountain West’s leading rusher with 1,351 yards and doubled that up by being the conference’s all purpose yardage leader totaling 1,920 yards in 2023. He earned All-American honors and was named conference player of the year for his efforts.
