Boston College junior cornerback Amari Jackson will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL in a loss at Virginia in Week 6, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Tuesday.

Jackson is the Eagles’ top corner and currently leads the team with five pass deflections.

Jackson was in the middle of his second season as a full-time starter when he went down with his knee injury. In five games, he allowed only a 58.6% reception percentage, according to Pro Football Focus. He was targeted 29 times and gave up 17 catches for 192 yards.

The McDonough, Georgia, native didn’t concede a touchdown, and he picked off a pass during a 23-19 win over Michigan State in Week 4. Jackson — the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 67 corner in the 2022 class — didn’t allow a catch longer than 19 yards this season, per PFF.

Jackson started all 13 games at cornerback for BC last year. He piled up 39 total tackles, including 33 solos and 3.5 for loss. Against Georgia Tech, he made an acrobatic interception, which he returned 30 yards to the house for a pick-six. He allowed just two passing touchdowns as a sophomore and finished the 2022 campaign with 30 catches given up on 52 targets, per PFF.

Jackson was recruited by former BC head coach Jeff Hafley, and the Eagle’s Landing High School product hit the ground running on the Heights. In fact, he appeared in nine games as a true freshman, making five starts in the process. He logged a pass break-up versus Clemson that season and, later in the same month, tallied a season-high seven tackles at Wake Forest.

Without Jackson in the fold, true freshman Ashton McShane is a name to know. A former three-star prospect from McKinney, Texas, McShane logged 33 defensive snaps, including 25 on the corner, during the loss to UVA in Week 6, according to PFF.

BC is coming off an off week and will play Virginia Tech Thursday night in Blacksburg.
