Springfield (Mass.) Springfield Central defensive lineman Josiah Griffin committed to Boston College on Friday. He chose the Eagles over Harvard and Yale.

Griffin is not ranked in the 2023 On3 Consensus or the 2023 On300. He is 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds.

In addition to Boston College, Griffin received an offer from West Virginia among others. He took an unofficial visit to Chestnut Hill on March 26.

Griffin’s brother is currently on Boston College’s roster. Joseph Griffin Jr. was a four-star wide receiver in the 2022 class and a top-400 prospect.

Prior to Griffin’s commitment, the Eagles’ 2023 recruiting class ranked No. 40 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 8 in the ACC. Boston College’s class now contains 18 commitments following Griffin’s announcement. The group is led by Philadelphia (Penn.) Neumann Goretti three-star cornerback Shawn Battle, the No. 488 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus.

Meanwhile, two players have committed to the Eagles this month. Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy three-star athlete Durell Robinson announced his pledge to head coach Jeff Hafley and his staff two days before Griffin.

This summer, the Eagles found success on the recruiting trail. They landed 10 commitments between June and August. June was their strongest summer month by far since six recruits pledged to Boston College. Three of them were Battle, Clearwater (Fla.) Clearwater Central Catholic three-star athlete Nate Johnson and Pennsauken (N.J.) three-star safety Kahlil Ali, who are currently the highest-rated prospects in the Eagles’ 2023 class.
