BYU wide receiver, kick returner Keelan Marion plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal

BYU wide receiver and kick returner Keelan Marion plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Marion has spent the past two seasons at BYU, where he’s amassed 25 appearances and 12 starts. In the 2024 campaign, Marion hauled in 24 catches for 346 yards and a touchdown. He also recorded 21 carries for 96 yards and two scores.
However, where Marion especially excelled was as a kick returner. Marion returned 18 kicks last season for 347 yards and two TDs. For his efforts, he was named a First-Team All-American return specialist by numerous outlets.
Additionally, he was named the Big 12 Kick Returner of the Year and a Second-Team All-Big 12 all-purpose performer. Marion was the first BYU player to return two kickoffs in a single season since 1989.
Before transferring to BYU, Marion spent three seasons at UConn. He collected 17 appearances and 11 starts for the Huskies. He had his best season with the program in 2021 when he tallied 28 receptions for 494 yards and five touchdowns.

Marion played high school football at Grayson High School (GA), where he was an unranked prospect in the 2019 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also spent one year at Palmetto Prep in Columbia, South Carolina, in 2019.
Marion will be the 24th BYU player to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason. He is joined by other standouts such as Jackson Bowers and Crew Wakley.
To soften the blow of its losses, BYU has added players via the transfer portal. The Cougars are coming off a stunning 11-2 season, the program’s best since 2007.
