Collin Chandler, a 6-foot-4 combo guard out of Farmington (Utah) Farmington has signed his NLI with BYU, he tells On3.

Chandler is the Cougars’ first pledge of the class. He chose BYU over Utah, Oregon, Gonzaga, Arizona, and Stanford.

It’s also important to note that Chandler will be taking a Mormon mission trip that will last two years, so Chandler will not enroll at BYU until 2024.

Collin Chandler on his decision

“I chose BYU because of the experience of the coaching staff,” Chandler said. “Coach (Mark) Pope played 10 years in the NBA, Coach (Chris) Burgess played professionally, and Coach (Nick) Robinson played at Stanford. I feel like they all have so much experience and I feel like I have so much to learn from them. I felt it was the best place for me to develop and be ready to play at the next level, which is a big goal of mine.”

The decision was not an easy one

“I didn’t know where I was going to go until a couple of days ago,” Chandler said. “I had come to the decision that I wanted to stay in Utah and I wanted to go to one of the Utah schools. I grew up a Utah fan. My dad went to Utah. So I’ve had a history with Utah and I felt like that could be the spot for me but I just had this feeling that BYU was where I needed to be and it gave me the best opportunity for not just basketball, but for my life.”

What does Chandler bring to BYU?

“I’m a well-rounded player and can score at all three levels,” Chandler said. “I feel like, at least offensively, it’s hard to game plan against me but I feel like I’m going to have pieces around me that will help so much because we’re going to have a bunch of talent. They can pick up the slack if I’m having an off game and the team will be really awesome once we put all our strengths together.”
