Ewa Beach (Hawaii) James Campbell three-star quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele has committed to California, he announced on Monday.

He chose the Golden Bears over Boise State, Oregon State and Utah State.

Sagapolutele is the No. 437 overall prospect and No. 31 QB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked player in Hawaii.

The Golden Bears have landed the lone uncommitted QB inside the On3 Industry Ranking top 500. Sagapolutele competed in the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles last month and held his own against some of the nation’s top 2025 signal-callers. The lefty was named a top performer by On3’s Charles Power at day one of the event.

“The Hawaii native flashed one of the stronger arms on hand, easily generating velocity on downfield and far hash throws. Sagapolutele was one of the co-winners of the Rail Shot challenge at the end of the workout along with Husan Longstreet, showing the ability to repeatedly drive the ball into a small windows downfield,” Power wrote.

“It meant the world,” Sagapolutele said of the invite. “Being able to have a chance to compete at such a high level is such a great opportunity! But just any chance to put myself and my families name on the map is a great opportunity!”

As a junior, Sagapolutele threw for over 3,700 yards and 37 touchdowns. Campbell High finished with a 9-4 record. He now headlines Justin Wilcox’s pledge list in Berkeley and is one of 14 total commits for the Bears this cycle.

More on Cal Recruiting

The Bears’ 2025 class features a usual West Coast flavor. Six in-state prospects are in the mix, while Arizona, Hawaii and Nevada add four more.

Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon three-star athlete Jae’on Young is at the top of the class alongside Sagapolutele. Young is the No. 17 ATH in the nation and a fellow top-500 overall recruit.

Minneapolis Edina three-star tight end Meyer Swinney joined the class in April and is the No. 2 player in Minnesota this cycle. Artesia (Calif.) Junipero Serra three-star safety Tre’ Harrison and Los Alamitos (Calif.) three-star running back Anthony League highlight some of the other top in-state commits for Wilcox and Co.

Other top commits in the class include Houston Alief Hastings three-star defensive lineman Ikechukwu Okafor, Las Vegas Skyridge three-star interior offensive lineman Ben Howard, Lancaster (Texas) three-star linebacker Ke’Breion Winston and Brentwood (Calif.) Liberty three-star offensive tackle Mike Klisiewicz.
