Report: Cal to hire former Colorado assistant coach

Vic So’oto is on the move again.
Cal is hiring So’oto as its new outside linebackers coach, according to The Athletic and FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman. Colorado hired So’oto as its defensive line coach in December and he decided to leave the program this week due to family reasons, the university announced.
“It is disappointing we’re losing Vic after just two months, but this is purely family related,” Dorrell said in a statement, via the Denver Post’s Brian Howell. “He has five young children and with most of both sides of his family living in California, they can use the additional support. So we understand why he wants to take advantage of an opportunity to move back and be closer to them.”
So’oto worked as USC’s defensive line coach from 2020-21 before deciding to head to Colorado. But after just two months on the job, he’s now heading back to California — where he grew up .
Prior to his time at USC, So’oto worked at Virginia from 2016-19 after working as an intern at BYU. He bounced around the NFL from 2011-14 after going undrafted out of college.

“SOURCE: Former Colorado offensive coordinator/WR coach Darrin Chiaverini is expected to join the UCLA staff as an offensive analyst,” tweeted Feldman. “Chiaverini, a Southern California native, had been a Bruins special teams assistant early in his coaching career after playing in the NFL.”
Moreover, Chiaverini is no stranger to UCLA. He spent one season with the Bruins in 2009 as a special teams assistant. As you can see, he went on to bigger and better things after leaving UCLA over a decade ago.
First, his first real opportunity came at Riverside City College, where he spent three seasons as the associate head coach, co-offensive coordinator and special teams coach. Then, he headed to Texas Tech in 2014, spending two seasons with the Red Raiders as their special teams coordinator. Then, Colorado hired him and he worked there from 2016-21.
Moreover, Chiaverini accumulated numerous roles throughout his time with the Buffaloes. At one point, Chiaverini was even the interim head coach for the program. Now, he’s moving on to a different Pac-12 program.
