Top-25 recruit Tyler Betsey commits to Cincinnati

Tyler Betsey, On3’s No. 24 overall player in the 2024 class, has committed to the Cincinnati Bearcats, becoming their third highest-ranked recruit in program history. Only Lance Stephenson (2009) and Jermaine Lawrence (2013) ranked higher.
The 6-foot-8 four-star small forward from Windsor (Conn.) St. Thomas More chose Wes Miller and his staff over offers from Alabama, UConn, Indiana, Duke, and others.
“I chose Cincy because I feel like they’re going to let me be me and showcase my full game,” Betsey said to On3.

Tyler Betsey Scouting Report
“Tyler Betsey has excellent length and a projectable frame. He is a smooth shooter with a quick release and deep range. He is a threat off the catch, with outstanding balance and a high, repeatable release. He uses his length in the passing lanes with natural instincts, getting a lot of deflections. He can also move his feet with wings, staying with them with his lateral quickness and length. Betsey is a good athlete. He needs to continue to develop off the bounce, creating for himself, but he plays efficiently in the half-court and acts as an excellent floor spacer. He is good in straight lines, getting to the rim on ball rotations. Would like to see develop some middle game on offense. Strength will be a big thing for him moving forward, but he is developing into the three-and-d type of prospect that is so valuable in today’s game.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw
