Dallas (Texas) Kimball shooting guard Chauncey Gibson put the pen to paper this morning; he is officially a Clemson Tiger.

On3 caught up with the 6-foot-6, 195-pounder at Kimball’s practice Monday afternoon. He could barely hold back his excitement leading up to signing day.

“I’m ready to make it official,” Gibson told On3. “Ready to make my family proud, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.”

Gibson is the No. 261 prospect in 2022, according to the On3 Consensus,  a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ultimately selected Clemson over SMU after also considering offers from Texas Tech, Creighton, Tulsa and Old Dominion

“When I was on my visit, they had everything I wanted to see. And they said everything I wanted to hear. It felt like they could help me get to the next level.”

Clemson assistant Antonio Reynolds-Dean is a big reason why the Tigers won out for Gibson.

“Coach Dean is my guy. He’s real cool. He relates to us so well. He’s relatable with anyone. He’s a funny guy that tells a lot of jokes.”

As Dallas Kimball embarks on a journey back to the state championship game this season, Gibson is focused on improvement.

“Improve on the on the ball defense. Basically just everything. The things I do well, I can continue to improve on.”

Clemson is getting a steal in Chauncey Gibson

Dallas Kimball coach Nick Smith believes Clemson is getting an underrated impact player in his wing prospect.

“Clemson got a steal with this kid,” Smith told On3 Monday. “He’s still growing. His upside is high. He 6-6 right now, and a shooting guard. He’s still growing. He may be 6-7 before he leaves here. I was looking at Clemson’s roster and they have a bunch of 6-2 and 6-3 guards, so he brings size and can play multiple spots.”

Gibson joins Loganville (Ga.) Grayson power forward Chauncey Wiggins in the Clemson Tigers 2022 recruiting class. Wiggins is the No. 169 prospect in the 2022 class.
