Clemson coach Brad Brownell was happy to see fans storming the court following a 72-64 victory against No. 24 Duke on Saturday. However, he also knows his team has much bigger goals for this season

Despite entering the game undefeated and No. 1 in the ACC standings, Clemson was unranked in the latest AP poll. However, Brownell hopes that the win against the Blue Devils can wake send a message to the rest of the country that the Tigers are here to stay.

“No, I wasn’t surprised,” Brownell said of the court storming. “It was fine. If that’s what they want to do, that’s great. Our students can have a great experience at Clemson and enjoy everything about it. I’d rather wait until we do something bigger, but that was fine. It was good.”

Clemson big man PJ Hall led the team with 26 points in the victory, while guard Brevin Galloway added another 17. The Tigers improved to 7-0 in ACC play, and sit alone atop the standings as the only undefeated team.

Clemson went into halftime trailing 34-30, and got down by as many as eight in the second half. However, the Tigers outscored the Blue Devils 14-7 over the final three minutes of the game to secure the win. That included several clutch free throws, as they were 8-of-9 from the stripe during that stretch.

Clemson is likely to climb into the top 25 with Saturday’s statement win. The Tigers were listed as a No. 10 seed in ESPN expert Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology. A lot of that has to do with the team’s strength of schedule, which sits at 141st. However, Saturday’s win will be a big boost to their resume, and it will be interesting to see where they land next there as well.

Following Saturday’s win against Duke, Brad Brownell and Clemson will next face Wake Forest on Tuesday. Tip off for that contest is set for 9 p.m. ET.
