Clemson Tigers offensive coordinator Brandon Streeter met with the media after practice on Monday and provided an update on freshman receiver Adam Randall. Randall tore his ACL during spring training but he is already making significant progress towards getting back on the field – the practice field at least.

“Man, I’ll tell you what, Adam was running some routes today, I don’t know if y’all saw but it was pretty fun to watch,” Streeter said. “He was doing some stuff, not getting touched yet, but he was still running a lot of good routes and just getting back into the swing of things. He’s getting back to the football shape he needs to be in as far as a receiver. He did some good things and it’s really, really neat to see him out there at this time in his recovery.”

The Clemson staff is excited for Randall to get back on the field after recruiting him hard and seeing him contribute early during the spring. He was a top-100 prospect in the 2022 signing class and the No. 15 wide receiver, according to the On3 Consensus. At 6-foot-3, 217 pounds, Randall gives the Tigers a big-bodied target and he should be available before the end of the season.

“As we saw in the spring, he brings a lot of big play potential,” Streeter said. “He made one-on-one plays a lot versus some of our best guys on defense. It was exciting and it gave the offense confidence when he was out there.”

The Tigers OC described Randall’s timetable for return as “week-by-week” and estimated he will be back officially practicing with the team in full within the next one to two months.

Swinney gives shoutout to wideouts for improvement

The Clemson Tigers don’t have that go-to wide receiver that they’ve had in the past. Last year’s top receiver Justyn Ross left for the NFL, but head coach Dabo Swinney doesn’t believe that will be a problem – in fact, he raved about his receiver corps following the second scrimmage of fall camp Wednesday.

“I’ve been really pleased,” Swinney said about his receivers’ performances throughout camp. “[Brannon Spector] led us today in catches, he’s had a really good camp. It’s been awesome to see him be so consistent in practice every day. It’s been a long time, he’s just every day. You know, just keep showing up. [Dacari Collins] had a nice big play today. Him and Beaux [Collins] have a lot of starting experience for us.

“I’m excited about Cole Turner really excited about him. I mean, he’s going to be a really good player. Antonio [Williams], Antonio is going to help us, he made a nice big play today. Will Taylor just gets better every single day … We’ve got a really good group and I’m super proud of them.”

Swinney said someone compared Taylor to former Clemson standout and current NFL wideout Hunter Renfrow, but Swinney said Taylor’s had an even steeper hill to climb than Renfrow – who we know now was the ultimate walk-on. Taylor hasn’t been able to be on the field much this offseason due to a mid-season ACL tear that sidelined him for the majority of workouts.

Meanwhile, at the top of the receiving corps, Joseph Ngata returns as Clemson’s top returning wide receiver. He finished with 23 passes for 438 yards and a touchdown over eight games, earning a start in nine of them.
