Bryan Bresee singles out one game NFL scouts should watch when evaluating his game
The 2023 NFL Draft is almost upon us and that will mean some mega-talented college football players are ready to head to the next level as professionals. Clemson‘s Bryan Bresee will be among them.
Like many prospects heading into the NFL Draft, Bresee has had a chance for some reflection.
On the All Things Covered podcast, the Clemson defensive line standout answered a handful of questions, one of which was the college game he’d most like to show his new NFL fans after being drafted.
“That’s a tough question. I think just overall I’d probably say just because of the level of team Georgia was, my sophomore year we played them in the first game of the season,” Bresee said. “That was a very, very competitive game.”
Georgia won that contest 10-3, blanking Clemson offensively until the fourth quarter.
While it wasn’t the cleanest game for either team, it did give Bresee a taste of a high-level defensive slugfest. Both defenses featured a number of players who will end up on NFL rosters, including Bresee.
“It was a game of a lot of defense,” Bresee said. “I’m sure the fans weren’t too happy about that, that we had a soccer score up there, a baseball score. But that was the game I think I laid it all out on the line.”
Bryan Bresee finished the game with six tackles, including one for a loss.
The talented Clemson standout had an up-and-down career, in part limited by injury. Injury really derailed Bresee’s 2021 campaign, limiting him to just four games of action. He was highly productive on either side around that injured stretch.

In three seasons, Bresee recorded 50 tackles, 15.0 tackles for a loss, 9.0 sacks, a forced fumble, an interception and five passes defended.
Bresee was named the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020, then named a third-team All-ACC selection in 2021 and a second-team All-ACC selection in 2022.
Evaluating Bryan Bresee as a prospect for NFL.com, Lance Zierlein writes the following:
“Burly but athletic interior tackle who plays with a strong desire to get past the man in front of him. Bresee rarely gets caught up in long block engagements and possesses a deep anchor to battle double teams. He operates with subtle hand fighting that helps puts pressure on blockers but currently lacks the rush sophistication and shed technique to make more plays in the backfield.
“If he can stay healthy and gain much-needed experience, Bresee should continue to progress at his position and become a good run defender with an ability to disrupt the pocket within his first few NFL seasons.”
