Clemson is hoping to get receiver Bryant Wesco back this week for the matchup against Louisville after he missed the previous two games with an ankle injury.

Head coach Dabo Swinney provided an update on where Wesco is at in his rehab during his media availability Wednesday night.

Swinney was asked in particular how much Bryant Wesco practiced this week.

“I mean, a pretty good bit. I mean, not as much as I’d like, but we’re ramping him up and just kind of going at his pace,” Dabo Swinney said.

Earlier this week, Swinney spoke about where Wesco was at coming out of the bye week. He acknowledged that the Tuesday and Wednesday practices would be big for the freshman but added that the bye week was certainly beneficial.

“Just gave him time and is helping him have more time to get ready to play. So I thought he got off to a good start last week, but big day today and tomorrow. Big day,” Dabo Swinney said. “Two really strenuous, physical days getting these guys ready to go play again on Saturday night.

“So hopefully he’ll have a good week and be ready to go. But he’s definitely made a lot of progress.”

It sounds as if perhaps Wesco didn’t respond as well during practice as Swinney hoped he would. It will be interesting to see if he is able to suit up on Saturday.

Bryant Wesco has reeled in 11 passes for 262 yards and two touchdowns in five games for Clemson so far this season. Wesco ranks second on the team in receiving yards per game.

As for Tyler Brown, the sophomore receiver has yet to get on track this season due to injuries after leading Clemson in receiving last year.

Brown is still working his way back from surgery and is considered “week-to-week,” according to Swinney. He will miss the Louisville game.

“He won’t be ready this week. He’s still week-to-week. Not ready to make him day-to-day yet, but he’s week-to-week and same thing, he’s made a lot of progress, you know,” Swinney said. “He had the tightrope surgery. And so I’ve seen him with his scooter, and I’ve seen him with crutches and I’ve seen him with a cane and now he’s got none of that. So he’s getting better. He’s getting better.”
