Cade Klubnik feels he played his second-worst game against Wake Forest
Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik and the Tigers will return to the field this weekend against Miami. After a bye week, the game will be a great chance for Klubnik to get the bad taste out of his mouth from his game against Wake Forest.
Klubnik called the game versus the Demon Deacons the second-worst game he has played during his Monday press conference.
“Looking back at that game, I feel like it was probably my second-worst game that I’ve played,” Klubnik said. “But you flush it and you get back to work. We did that last week and what I said last week is we got to take advantage of this week, talking about last week, and we did that. I think that we really did that and we got after it. We didn’t let a day get wasted. We had a great week and excited to just continue that. Last week was almost our halftime in a way so just reset and rethinking what do I want these next six weeks to really look like? My hope is we get to play these next six games with no regrets and just go play and give it everything I possibly can.”
Klubnik passed the ball 28 times, completing 18 of those passes for 131 yards. He also added 48 yards on 12 carries. It was also his first game of the 2023 college football season where he did not throw a touchdown pass.
His previous low for passing yards in a a game this season was 169 yards in a blowout win over Florida Atlantic. His low against a Power Five opponent was 209 yards in the season-opening loss to Duke.

The Tigers edged out a 17-12 victory in the game thanks to a standout performance from the team’s defense. The victory was the 165th of Dabo Swinney‘s career, tying him with legendary coach Frank Howard for most by a Clemson head coach.
Klubnik said his problem in the game was partially being hesitant and not letting the ball fly around the field.
“Wasn’t really just letting it rip,” Klubnik said. “I don’t think that it was anything that anybody else did or anything like that. You play a lot of football, games are gonna happen like that. Just get ready for this next week. It was great timing for a bye week and just ready to go after it.”
