The Clemson quarterback situation has been difficult for Dabo Swinney to manage all season long. The incumbent starter, DJ Uiagalelei, has struggled compared to expectations. Behind him is Cade Klubnik, a high-upside recruit who has gotten some playing time, but also clearly needs time to develop.

In the ACC Championship Game, Cade Klubnik replaced DJ Uiagalelei early in the game. Immediately, the offense exploded and it looks like Clemson isn’t turning back.

After the game, Cade Klubnik was asked about what he said to the offense following Clemson’s first score.

“I think I just went and kind of talked to the offensive linemen, the receivers, like man this is just the start,” Cade Klubnik explained.

“Let’s keep on rolling. We had a great first drive and I really just tried and encourage them. Like don’t be satisfied with this. Don’t be satisfied with one good drive. Let’s go five or six more, and that was my kind of encouragement to them was like we’re just getting started.”

The offense for Clemson was excellent in the ACC Championship Game under Cade Klubnik. He, ultimately, threw for 279 yards and a touchdown. Clemson won 39-10.

With DJ Uiagalelei planning to enter the transfer portal, this is Cade Klubnik’s team moving forward. The question is whether or not he’s ready.

Cade Klubnik on his favorite moment from the win

After the game, Cade Klubnik explained his favorite moment from the ACC Championship Game win.

“I had told him (Dabo Swinney) on the way, I think it was at the hotel today, that I wanted the throw back with Phil (Mafah), and I was like let’s do it early. That was pretty fun, I mean I wish we would’ve scored on it, but that was definitely pretty fun,” Cade Klubnik said.

“But I really loved to see Cole Turner kind of show out tonight, that was really awesome. Dude’s just kind of a silent worker, he’s more of a quiet guy but also just a great dude. But he can fly, he can run and he catches the ball.”
