Cade Klubnik shares his goals for summer workouts
Cade Klubnik was just focused on getting to Clemson last year when he came in as a true freshman. Now, heading into his sophomore year, the new Tiger quarterback has much more on his plate to focus on this summer.
Klubnik addressed his summer plans along with the team’s following their spring game last month. Rather than anything individually, he said his main focus is on getting out with his teammates over this next stretch of time in order to keep working together and finding out who is willing to dig deep.
“The summer is just a time for us to just kind of get to work,” Klubnik said. “It’s very player-led. Skill drills. We’re pretty much having 2-3 practices a week just as players and no coaches out there.”
“It’s just a time for leaders to kind of step up on the offense and the defense. But I think that really makes the team,” said Klubnik. “It’s guys having to be pushed or pushing themselves for the first time ever. It’ll be really good for guys that haven’t had a full summer yet.”
Again, this stretch of time is very different for Klubnik compared to last year. He was just getting used to the college atmosphere this time last year as he prepared behind DJ Uiagalelei. He’s now Clemson’s presumed QB1 and leader this time around as he prepares to take command of the offense.

Still, more than anything else, Klubnik is focused on what the program as a whole can do to take their games to the next level. He obviously wants to see growth in himself but, as a whole, overall growth from the team will be what gets Clemson back where they want to be in 2023.
Swinney reveals Clemson’s biggest unanswered questions entering fall
Clemson football has completed its spring practice sessions and has entered the long cold winter until the official September kick-off. During his media availability following the spring game, Tiger head coach Dabo Swinney was asked where he’d like to see some growth over the next few months of the offseason.
He just said he wants Clemson to get back to full strength.
“Healthy. We got to get everybody back,” answered Swinney. “That’s the biggest thing, just get complete. And we’re not far from there. I mean, you know, again, most everybody that’s been out has had just lingering stuff and post-season stuff that — like, Ruke (Orhorhoro) could probably play today and I asked him ‘How ya feeling?’ and he said ‘I could play today.’ And I mean, that’s great, you know. So if we were starting spring ball next week, he probably would have had a different deal.”
“That’s the main thing. Just really complete our team so that we can go put it all together on the field.”
