Cade Klubnik shares value of second Manning Passing Academy experience

Last year, Cade Klubnik attended the Manning Passing Academy for the first time. He was among the group of quarterbacks who made the trip to Thibodaux, La., for the event – and he’s back for Year 2.
Klubnik put together an impressive 2024 season at Clemson, helping lead the Tigers to a College Football Playoff appearance. Prior to his breakout year, he was among the group to work at the Manning Passing Academy alongside some of the top quarterbacks in the country.
Speaking Friday, Klubnik said he enjoyed the experience. With the opportunity to return for another trip to Thibodaux, he didn’t want to miss out on spending time with the Mannings while also learning even more than he did last year.
“I think just getting to be around the whole Manning family and learn everything that they are,” Klubnik said. “It’s just really fun. That’s why I wanted to come back. I remember coming last year and learning so much. I felt like I was a better quarterback by the time I left, in just a few short days. Having that experience, getting to learn from the other quarterbacks in the country.
“Looking back on last year, that was one of the biggest things that I learned is just getting to sit in the dorm room until 12:00 and just learning about each other’s lives and learning what they’ve gone through and kind of what I’ve gone through in the ups and downs. The special guests, we’ve got Jon Gruden this year. … But I think just the experience of being here and the people you’re surrounded with, there’s just nothing like it. It’s not something that you can really replicate.”

Klubnik had a huge 2024 season as he took a leap forward under second-year offensive coordinator Garrett Riley. He threw for 3,649 yards and 36 touchdowns – an impressive bounce-back from an up-and-down 2023 season.
After passing on an NFL Draft with question marks at quarterback, Cade Klubnik will now look to get Clemson back to the College Football Playoff and maintain its spot atop the ACC. Speaking with On3’s Pete Nakos, he’s focusing on his development to eventually get to the next level.
“At the end of the day, quarterback is a developmental game, and your relationship with your offensive coordinator is probably the most important relationship in football,” Klubnik said. “So being able to just have more time and more games under my belt with him has been huge. I took a step between two years ago and last year, and I’m trying to take another step this year. That’s kind of my mentality. I played some of my best ball last year, but still not good enough in terms of where I want to be.”
