Cade Klubnik is a sponge right now at Clemson. The soon-to-be sophomore has seen a lot come his way over the last few months with the starting gig coming his way as well as a new offensive playbook being put in his hands. Still, as far as getting started on the new work, there’s nothing but excitement coming from the former five-star.

Klubnik shared his thoughts on where the Tigers are offensively following their spring game this past weekend. He said they’ve come a long way just during their spring practices but, heading into the summer, he appeared as animated as anyone about the opportunity to continue working at it in every way.

“Just continue to learn the offense. We’ve had just 15 practices in this offense. Just super excited to go into this summer and just skill drills, routes on air, film room,” Klubnik said. “I’ll have a good four months of just getting to work and learning more. Really, I think that’s the biggest part. Just continuing to build pocket presence and chemistry with the receivers. That’s the biggest part.”

By the end of his freshman year, Klubnik had already taken several big steps. After seeing limited snaps for most of the regular season, he got thrown into the fire in the postseason and came out pretty well on the other side. Things weren’t perfect but, considering his age and experience, he showed a solid foundation that Clemson can now build upon.

Now, with a new offense in place under Garrett Riley, Klubnik only has that much more information to soak in heading into next season. He seems as ready as anyone to study hard and develop this offseason so that, come next fall, he’s as prepared as he can be to make things happen as the starter in Death Valley.

Klubnik analyzes his play in Clemson’s spring game

There are a lot of expectations surrounding Cade Klubnik and Clemson for the 2023 season, but the quarterback was honest about himself.

He analyzed his play in the spring game and while he acknowledged he made some big plays, there was room for improvement. Klubnik was complimentary of the Clemson secondary, which caused a few issues for the offense.

But based on the spring game, Klubnik could take a big step forward.

“You know, lots of ups and downs,” Klubnik said of his spring game performance. “But you know, I think as a whole, just super excited to see (what’s to come). “Put some long drives together, had some big plays. I had a couple of good scrambles. But overall, I mean, I feel like we have great protection up front, I had  a lot of time. I think our DBs on the other side were the best that I’ve seen them ever play. They did a heck of a job and I think we did a great job around the ball. I think that was one of our best things today.”
