Cam Cannarella hits game-tying, three-run home run in ninth inning versus Florida in Clemson Super Regional
Clemson was staring right at elimination from the 2024 NCAA Baseball Tournament at the top of the ninth inning of their Super Regional. That was before Cam Cannarella stepped to the plate, though, with what could be a game-saving and season-saving swing for the Tigers.
Cannarella came up with two on base and one out against Florida. He liked the first pitch that he saw and got all of it as he shot it out to right field and turn a three-run deficit into a tie game at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Clemson has spent much of Game 2 of their Super Regional behind the lead, especially after the fifth inning. The Gators were up 2-0 to start and 7-4 after the sixth.
However, when they needed it most, the Tigers responded at the top of the eighth and ninth innings to force extras.
Cannarella scored a run in the eighth with a single before Tryston McCladdie scored him with one of his own. Then, to start the ninth, Blake Wright and Jacob Hinderleider singled to get themselves on first and second. That was enough for Cannarella to tie it up with his homer.

Jimmy Obertop and Tristan Bissetta were unable to take the lead from there in the next two at-bats. Still, it was enough to get to a 10th inning and more with two strikeouts and a line out closing the ninth inning for Florida.
Cannarella is putting together an all-time performance late in this game in trying to save Clemson. The question now is if his efforts will be enough to force a third game tomorrow against the Gators.
Cannarella makes one of best catches of the year in Super Regional vs. Florida
Clemson OF Cam Cannarella simply refuses to let the Tigers lose in their Super Regional versus the Florida Gators on Sunday.
With two outs in a tenth inning that he forced, Cannarella sprinted back to deep center field, jumped in midair, and made a game-extending catch before crashing into the center field wall. Simply put, if he drops the ball, Clemson’s season would have been over.
It was, without a doubt, one of the best plays in college baseball this year.
